Incredible trekking adventure holiday amongst the remote mountains of the Jebel Saghro in Morocco! Sandwiched between the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco and the Sahara, the beautiful mountain region of Jebel Saghro is the perfect destination for winter sunshine trekking. Our Jbel Saghro Trekking 5 Days walking adventure holiday in Morocco takes you from magical Marrakech to explore the heart of the Jebel Saghro. We’ll be trekking amongst rocky peaks, hidden valleys and green oases, where we’ll find the traditional villages of the welcoming Berber people. Walking along quiet trails through a variety of spectacular Jebel Saghro scenery, we’ll trek to the summit of the highest peak in the Jebel Saghro range, Amalou n’Mansour (2712m). With warm days and crystal clear visibility, the walking conditions are ideal and the vistas are superb, with the views northwards from the Jebel Saghro over to the sparkling snow-capped peaks of the High Atlas Mountains. An exciting drive across the High Atlas Mountains sees us back in UNESCO Marrakech. Here we have a free day to explore the bustling Djemaa-el-Fna and souk, which provides a fitting end to this spectacular two week adventure trekking holiday in the undiscovered Jebel Saghro!
SaghroDay 1: Marrakech – Nkob
Our guide will pick you up from your accommodation in the morning and we’ll cross the High Atlas Mountains via the famous Tizi ‘n Tichka Pass at 2260m. From this pass, you have a wonderful view of the valley and Berber villages nearby. We stop for lunch at an ancient Kasbah in the palm-covered valley of Draa and spend the night in Nkob.
Day 2: Nkob to Bab – N -Ali
We begin our trek in the morning by loading the muleteers with your luggage, then set out to Bab-n-Ali. We stop for lunch in the Ousdidn Valley then continue to our camp which lies at the foot of the amazing Bab-n-Ali pinnacles. Total hike time: 6.5 hours
Day 3: Bab n Ali – Ighazzoun
After enjoying breakfast in the morning sun, we continue our trek towards Ighazzoun. We cross by the
Bab-n-Ali pinnacles and the unique mountain landscape of Tadawt n Tblah. We camp in the evening at a beautiful river, perfect for relaxing after a good day’s hike. Total hike time: 6 hours
Day 4: Ighazoune N’Oumlas – Handor
We start our day trekking towards Tizi Olhyan Pass, then down to the Valley of Tifdassine. We walk through several local Berber villages and arrive in Handor, which is shrouded in a grove of palm trees.
Total hike time: 5.5 hours
Day 5: Handor – Nkob – Marrakech
Our last day trek in Jbel Saghro will be to drive to Marrakech. We will cross the valley of Draa valley. Lunch will be in Ouarzazate city where we also will stop to visit the highlight of the city. In the afternoon we drive back to Marrakech crossing again the High Atlas mountains.
